Madz and Roo's world is turned upside down when their bird-freak Dad ventures into the jungle and doesn't come back. When they recieve a strange, creepy, cryptic letter, which Roo swears is in code, they know something terrible has happened to him! Determined to find him the girls set out into the Costa Rican jungle to investigate. With the help of a local boy, a almost extinct bird and some native flowers, they fight to rescue their bird-loving Dad!
